2009-09-05: San Jacinto Mountain

On Saturday I had to work early in the morning. When i got off work I had the choose whether to join the guys on the BorregoFest Prerun or take my coworkers offer to go up to San Jacinto Mountain to see an area that I haven't had the opportunity to explore. Since I had my son with me and didn't want to risk the heat of the desert with him, I decided to go up instead of down. From the looks of the end of their trip I'm sort of glad I made the decision i did because my wife would have killed me for getting my sun caught in a flash flood.
It turned out to be a beautiful day. My son loved it. We ran Rouse Ridge Truck Trail to Hemet Lake. We then drove into Idyllwild for some burgers. After some lunch we went to check out Lilly Rock where we watched some climbers working at scaling the face. After Lilly rock (in Humber Park) we went up Black Mountain. We attempted to finish our day by going down Bee Canyon Truck Trail to find out about half way down that the trail had been closed off due to potential fire hazards. Before getting to the point we were forced to turn around we came to Indian Truck Trail. It was a more extreme trail that sort of reminded me of Carvacre/Pencake Rock. I played around on it a bit then decided to bail because it was getting late and the other to with me didn't want to attempt it. I want to go back up there and run it all the way through. There are a few trails off Bee Canyon I want to check out sometime...
Here's the route GPX file...
