2010-08-04 thru 08: Mount Langley Summit

The first week in August there is a group of us (12 people) that are going to attempt to summit Mount Langley in the south Sierra Nevada Mountain Range.
There are 14 peaks in California that are over 14,000 ft in elevation. Langley is the southern most of those peaks in the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. Of the 14K peaks, Langley is the second or third hardest to climb depening on whether one attempts the summit via New Army Pass or Old Army Pass to reach the summit. They say New Army Pass is the easiest but it is longer and Old Army Pass is the hardest but it is the shorter route to the summit. We are going to attempt the approach via Old Army Pass and use New Army Pass as the back up plan in the event the Old Army Pass is closed due to snow cover. There is a more extreme rock climbing type approach up the North face of Langley but we won't be attempting that.
My dream is to try and bag all (14 ea) of the 14K+ peaks in California. We will see how I do at elevation and what this does to me. I will use this thread to give you information on what we go through prepping for this trip and itinerary changes, etc. Since this is a high elevation climb we can't just run out and run to the top or we could seriously hurt ourselves. There is a lot of planning and prep to be accompished. We have to acclimatize ourselves to exursion at high elevations and condition ourselves before the date comes. In prep for this we are going to try and bag some aditional peaks between now and then. The three we would ike to bag, in particular, are San Jacinto, San Antonio (Baldy), and San Gorgonio. I will be leading a group up Gorgonio for SummerFest. We need to pick a date to do the other two peaks.
