I just got this photo from Dave on the Indian County Trip. I have been following on APRS and received the photo via HF Airmail.
This is from their camp view of Spider Rock in Canyon de Chelly.

Cool pics and this adds a whole new dimension to Airmails usefulness. I'd never thought of sending pics before, but then sending repeated pics of nothing but the ocean surface and clouds would bore most people.
Hector, just curious, has their been any voice communication with Dave, or is he only able to get a digital signal out from there?

Two more nights to go on the trip. Early next week I'll post some video.
Ancient Anasazi building:
Ancient Cliff Dwelling:
Ancient Anasazi pottery shards and corn husks. Pottery shards were all over the floor of the cliff dwellings along with the corn husks:

There are many great ways to use all of these great communications techniques. All too often people overlook the capabilities of the various techiques and either say that will never work. The desire to experiment is unfortunately gone in many hams. Fortunately Dave has a willingness to give many things a try. He has had many problems and setbacks but, he continues to work through them, to great effect.
I am certain he will be pleased with the success he has enjoyed on his first field trial with Airmail and digital mode HF communications. Unfortunately we did not set up any skeds (scheduled contacts) for this trip. My work shedule has been very hectic and widely varied hours have cut into my radio time. I think once we get more groupmembers active on HF we can setup a more structured HF net. conditions or antenna issues have made local HF contacts problematic.
