Greetings from the Southern Great Basin Desert!
Found this forum while looking into the Keller Peak repeater. Very Nice! I have been using HAM Radio for a couple of months now, and am only beginning to realize its value. Passed my General last month, and will be getting into HF soon (waiting for $$$). Right now, I am having a lot of fun with my dual band hand-held and some home-made antennas. HAM and 4-wheeling are the perfect match, why did I wait so long. As for the 4-wheeling portion, I prefer Toyota land cruisers. I've owned 3 over the past 30 years, and currently have 2 in the stable. The FJ40 is my "3-season rig", since the summers out here require AC. That's where the FJ80 comes in. The next time I'm up high in the mountains, I'll give Keller Peak a try, maybe connect with some of you fine folks. Local repeaters in southern NV include:
145.62 (-) W7NYE Mt. Schader - PL100.00 and
146.88 (-) WA7HXO Mt. Potosi - PL100.00
You can hit the Potosi repeater from high up in the southern panamint mtns. I might try Keller from the Spring Mtns later this week. See you out there!
