I've been getting out there every day this week so far around 5am. These are from this morning. It's a great hike close to home.

I would recommend the side trail instead of the main trail. At least on the first and last 60% of the hike you won't have 100s of people to deal with. Great job on hiking it every day!

So that's why I haven't been seeing you at 4:00 last night? I was going to give you a call to see if you were bailing on us. :) Glad to see you are getting a daily dose of it.

True indeed. The south approach there can get really crowded.

Sorry about that. A few things popped up in the way, but I should start to make it out there again on those evenings.

I love that when you can get higher than the cloud/marine layer. The mountain tops look like a bunch of islands.

Ollie, if you want we could try the most difficult (and beautiful) approach to Cowls from the northeast. It starts at Big Rock Park in Santee at the corner of Mesa Road and Prospect Ave. It totals almost 5 miles and meets up with the service road we usually take.

Is that 5 miles round trip or one way?

I just looked it up... It's round trip. Have you tried this route already? I'm game.

Can you meet at the trailhead at 3:30pm on Thursday?
