On Board Air Revised

Bought a 480c Viair dual compressor kit from Ollie on the board. So scraped the last tank set up that I had because these compressors push 200 psi, and that tank was rated for 125 ha ha. Got the compressors installed under the cargo area, tucked up away from everything. Also using the remote intake air filters, ran air lines and mounted the filters up into a storage compartment in the cargo area. Relays and pressure sensor all soldered and mounted in side the weather box in between both compressors, now just awaiting the Viair 2.5 gallon air tank

Looks good!! I'm doing something similar (but cheaper and weaker) in the works. I have 2 MV50 pumps ($60ea) that spit out about 2.4cfm @0 and 1.41cfm @90 each. I have the viair tank and pressure switch. I need to get some of that stainless braid cable that you used. On my last system the tubing would get SUPER hot, like burning your hand hot, so i want to either use solid copper or stainless braid for this next setup.

I’m doing the same thing with a MV50. I am only using one but I am going to use my rock rails as air tanks. They are roughly 2.5 gallons together. The MV50 will be mounted under the hood and I will run copper line to the rock rails and to hose fitting on the rear bumper. I put a 12v computer box fan in the ammo can that will run as long as the system is on. My new Softopper Jeep top is coming in the mail tomorrow so this will be put on hold for a bit but here is what it looks like so far.

Looks cool! Where did you find that little pressure switch? Do you have a vent on the bottom of the box for the air to escape? You can take off that metal shield around the motor and you will get better cooling. That is more of a "don't burn your finger" type of thing.

Thanks. There is another vent on the side of the box. The pressure switch is from Viair. It was $25 on Amazon. On the MV50 there are two ports on the high pressure side. The one for the gauge is 18"NPT. The Viair pressure switch is 1/8"NPT also, its damn near made for it.

Nice setups guys, and for any accessories look into Kilby, they have nice pressure switches and the sort.

Nice set up and ideas.

There is something to consider with compressor systems. Why do you guys want air tanks? Unless you are installing an air horn set up they are pretty much useless. You need to run nearly a ten gallon tank to provide any efficiency for air tools. CO2 is smarter to use for air tools in that regard. It would save you pain and heartache to just ignore the tanks. As long as your system is tight, just coming off your compressor for the lockers will work fine. The line to the locker will hold plenty of volume for their function. Just a thought... ;)

I don't run air lockers. With 2.5 gallons of air tank you can run some air tools but not at 100 percent duty cycle. With a tank the compressor can air up tires faster and not have to run as long. That is all I could really ask for a air system for under a hundred bucks.

Can I just run the Viair compressors to an air chuck that clips onto the tire Ollie?
