For several days, I've noticed the dog food disappearing while the dog's inside for night....and, the dog's exhausted from chasing something....well, finally figured it out

I woke up when I heard something in my house the other night and grabbed the gun and flash light. I saw a coon haul ass towards the cat door! Its hard to go back to bed after jumping up in the middle of the night and grabbing a gun! At least it was just a coon!

That's awesome... He's just looking at you like he don't even care he's been caught.
The idea of my wife fining out that there was a Racoon in the house is too much. She would completely lose her cool.

We had a problem with them eating our
Bantam Chickens and our pond goldfish.
At night, when we'd hear them in the back yard and shine flashlight on them, they just seemed to wave back at us.

He sure looks cute, but make no mistake, they are smart and dangerous. They can be very aggressive and they do carry rabies.

That is correct - and they can be very aggressive when challenged if the feel they are cornered...the racoons have razor-sharp claws that will easily kill a dog and do damage to a human...so, while they are cute, they should be respected when trying to get them to move on...
We actually have a family of 4 regulars that we see hanging out in our trees...they are persistent and very smart - always aware of their surroundings, and the likelihood of actual danger...and they do not feel threatened by humans hanging around...
