JK ENGINE PERFORMANCE

Wondering if anyone has had good success with boosting JK HP. I did install a AIRAID air intake and it boosted gas mileage by 1.5mpg and did help responsiveness. However I was at 9500 ft altitude and going up a steep grade and it was not pretty. Any thoughts on exhaust system upgrades, or???

thanks for any input.

There is a guy that that runs with Cruiserlarry all the time that has done ALOT to his jeep. He hasn't logged on here yet but maybe Larry knows what he has done to his jeep. The guy goes by Sunnygrill if he's on the forum.

Sunnygrill (Nikos) is not on this forum (yet). He has a 99 Wrangler TJ, so it's not really comparable regarding performance upgrades. Not much has come out yet for the Wrangler JK, except intakes and catback exhaust systems. If sales of the JK increase, and there is enough demand, aftermarket manufacturers will come out with more products.

Running at altitude creates power problems in any vehicle - thinner air has less oxygen per liter, so it doesn't burn as much gas as effectively as denser air. Regardless of upgrades, performance will suffer at altitude.
