Install/Configuartion Help Please

I am assembling a new APRS setup in my truck and am seeking some guidance. I have a new (to me) Toughbook CV-29 with UI-View and AGWPE installed. I have a puck GPS installed with GPSGate for sharing. I have a Signalink USB and with cables for my Yaesu 857D in the truck. I am looking for help in the settings for the radio and AGWPE to make it all work together.

I have used UI-View with a different laptop and my Kenwood TH-D7A handheld, but I am looking for more output power, hence the need to change to using the 857D. So I have some experience with UI-View, but none with the Signallink or AGWPE for APRS. I have used the Signallink with the 857D for HF email using RMS Express. I also have a RIGTalk for computer control of the radio. I have another radio to use for trail comms on a temporary basis.

Can anyone (Hector, Dave?) clue me in on the radio/software config? I have read all the threads here and in the Parashant trip area, but nothing come up on configuring the system.

Thanks

While I don't remember all the specifics as it's been a while, I had my FT 857D running APRS with a Toughbook CF-29 and UI-View 32. I used a Kamtronics KPC-3 as the terminal node controller, and hooked it up to a Lowrance Global Map Baja 540C GPS unit. The CF-29 has only one serial port, with a 9-pin style connector that will interface with the Signallink TNC unit. The Yaesu and whatever GPS you use will also hook up to the Signal link, unless you have a built in GPS in the CF-29 (it'll be Com 3). Once they are connected, just put the info into UI-View 32 set-up, and that program will take it from there...

Note: IMO, UI-View 32, while not currently supported by anyone specific, has the best in-program help of any program I've ever used - so take advantage of it. You can also install Precision Maps to have a complete moving map system with APRS info on your CF-29...

Tim:

I have almost the exact same set-up. It will be so much easier if you give me a call and I can walk you through it.
