Cheetah

Took the family to the San Diego Safari park. My goal was to get some good shots of the Lions and cheetah. Of course the lion exhibit was closed. In all my trips to Africa, I have heard lions and a leopard, but had never got a shot-- with the camera, as I do not hunt cats. Anyway, we had reserved a cart tour, so my grandson got some nice up close looks at the critters. I took a few pics of some mature cheetah's. They also had a cheetah show and brought out a 7 month old male and gave him a bit of a workout. It was entertaining and informative. A few pics.

Cheers, Steve

I am a cat lover. So much power, grace, and beauty in an animal. Those are incredible shots Steve. Thanks for sharing them.

Thanks all for the kind words. I like puddy's. They are the ultimate hunters. I must confess that my settings were less than optimal for the show. I thought they would just bring out puddy and walk him around. Had I known they were going to put on a speed exhibit, I would have changed my settings prior to the show. It dawned on me after the show ended. Duh

I think I'll forever refer to that place as the Wild Animal Park. That's what I grew up with and the name change is throwing me for a loop. ;)

Nice photos Steve. Do they still have the cheetah tour? I've always wanted to see them run flat out.

Sean,
I still remember the "wild animal park." Also remember lion country safari. They did announce that they are building an enclosure where the cheetah will be able to run full speed while chasing a mechanical rabbit. I did see the enclosure under construction. I still have plans to get back to Africa to shoot cats--with the camera. I was dissappointed last year in Namibia when I never got a shot of a cat--not even in Etosha. On my next safari, I will spend at least three days at Kruger.

Cheers, Steve

Sean,
It is easy and cheaper than one might think. So, go for it. :D Remember, you can always earn or borrow money, but you can't borrow or earn more time.
