On September 14, 2007 the Butler II Fire started in the San Bernardino National Forest. It burned 14,000 acres before containment.
Starting in the spring of 2008 the
SBNF Adopt-A-Trail Crew led by My Jeep Rocks has volunteered over 6000 hours to get this trail re-opened.
On Sunday June 26, 2011 we unlocked the gate and the trail is open to the public.

Excellent news. Thanks for sharing it.
On the map I see Lower Larga Flats trail bisecting Holcomb. It is tagged as one of the most dificult trails in SBNF. Is it truly more difficult than John Bull or Holcomb or how does it compare?

Not sure... I know it's an Adopt-A-Trail of an FJ Cruiser forum though and they did some clean up there in mid 2010.

2N06X Lower Larga Flat has too many hazard trees standing to be opened. Now that 3N93 Holcomb Creek is open the AAT clubs will start directing their attention to 2N06X and hopefully it will be open before the end of the summer.
2N06X is not as difficult as John Bull or Holcomb Creek.

That is awesome news! Broke in my one week old FJ with no lift on that trail and have loved it ever since. Anyone know if the Butler Creek Lookout is open yet?

That was one of the first questions that crossed my mind as well Scott.
The OP included a link to the closure page on the SBNF website, and it looks like it's still closed to vehicles, but open to hikers.
Bummer, That's one of my alltime favorite runs.
I have saved that link as a favorite and will be keeping my eye on it for sure.
