Spot Connect Recommendations

I have had a Spot Connect I bought at REI and have never activated it due to all the bad reviews. Expo just posted another. Seriously considering returning it. Can anyone weigh in?

Actually the Delorme inReach is probably a much better solution since it uses Iridium, once an iOS version is available.

I have the 2nd generation SPOT and love it.

InReach would be nice, if DeLorme came up with a reasonable price structure...but it seems very expensive for a device that will be only occasionally used...
I, too, have a Gen 2 Spot, and it has worked fine for me - but I've never had a critical emergency to really test it (that's not a complaint
)
