I had Jury duty this morning and just got released. I need to be in Corona about 7 pm, so to kill time I am heading to Santiago. If anyone is available feel free to join me. I am leaving Upland in about 10 mins, and will monitor Keller or Santiago (224.82 Rx., (-1.6) PL 156.7 Hz.)

Funny, I was just reading this thread.

It piqued my interest about the place. Hope to check it out someday.

I planned on going in off of Ortega Hwy, but all the gates were locked. I checked out the area a bit, saw some Hang Gliders, and worked my way north. Every road I could find had a locked gate 2-3 miles into them. Never made it up. Not a bad afternoon, but not what I expected.

Hi Chris,
I use to go in just off of Indian Truck. Now you have to go through a neighborhood to gain access. I have also gone in from the 74. Where were the gates? If you want to try the neighborhood access, give me a call and we can run the trail from there. Also, in trying to find the access after they built the homes, I ended up exploring some trails trying to find the access to the national forest and ended up at a strange commune/drug type ranch. It was very tense for a few minutes--but that is another story.

Cheers, Steve

If you have the Backroads of So Cal book, I tried there route from the 74. At about 3.5 miles you make a U turn to the left, there was a locked Gate there. I cruised around that area, and found some other trails but nothing going where I wanted. Worked my way down a trail back into Elsinore and up the freeway to try Indian Truck. I made my way north then west , through a neighbor hood and some new construction. The road is closed just past the trail, there is what looks like a chinese compound of some type (book describes it as a resort) about 2.5 miles up from the pavement there is a locked gate. Did not see anywhere else to go there so back to the free way, and went to Cajalco and kind of cruised around the hills between the 15 and lake mathews

I would like to check it out at some point though

I just looked it up on the Cleveland forest site and it was closed due to "wet weather." Go figure. Said that the South Main road was open. It isn't far from where I live, so let me know and maybe post a run notice and we can check it out. Maybe get Eric and some of the other folks to come play.

Cheers, Steve

Sounds good. I know this was last min. As far as work was concerned I was still at Jury Duty, and figured driving around would be better then letting them know I was done.
