The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, in the Arlington National Cemetery, is guarded 24-hours-per-day and 365-days-per year by specially trained members of the 3rd United States Infantry.

My dedication to this sacred duty is total and wholehearted.

Tomb Guards DURING Hurricane Sandy

The soldiers who guard the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, do not expect, or require publicity. The honor is in the job they do, not the recognition they might receive for doing it. And for that reason, they have my respect and admiration.

Those soldiers are symbolic of the many folks who will make personal sacrifices in order to assist the people hit hard by Sandy last week. They are all heroes to me.

IMHO First Responders and Emergency Personal fit this to a tee, whether they are the Red Cross, Fire Fighters, Police, and even the utility crews that loaded their trucks into planes and headed to Sandy. All these people volunteer to sleep in shelters, the back of trucks, or make shift camps in conditions some of us will not camp in. These men and women are truly on an "Expedition" to help others and deserve our support.
