EASTER EXPLORATION IN THE MOJAVE PRESERVE
It seems that so many people are wrapped up in the Mojave Road that they don't take time to see or even realize what the rest of the preserve has to offer. On this particular adventure we headed out to the areas that aren't as popular to share the history and fascinating sites with you. My main goal was to take the lesser traveled route when given the opportunity and explore parts north of I-15 that people don't even know is part of the preserve. We even broke across state line briefly.
With that said, this is part 1 of 2, since there was so much great history going on out there. I'll have the second installment up next week. We will also be posting up images that weren't in the reports on our Facebook page (facebook.com/adventureduo) since there was just too many to share in the report. We shot 700+ photos in 2.5 days.
Enjoy!

Great trip report! I've only been out to the Mojave Preserve once along the Road. I need to get back out there!

Dave:
Your observations on the East Mojave are spot on. The area is one of the best kept secrets around. Very nice pictures and report.

Maybe we need to set up an OAUSA Mojave Road trip. I've been both ways on the road several times, and each time I find something new to explore. Just camping out there is worth it by itself. It's a great exploratory trip - relatively easy terrain, beautiful and varied scenery, historically significant sights, and 140 miles or so without need to see another sole (aside from your trail mates, of course

)
And for me, the detour to Ludlow for the best Chocolate Cream Pie on earth is just an extra incentive

Sounds like a plan. I have camped in the area, but never run the trail

Whoa, you go both ways...
Oh, on the road, okay I see now!
I would love to get out there again with a group. Maybe this fall?
