Years ago, I had a cabin just off the access road to Keller Peak, and often road my horse or hiked to the repeater site. I've listened to the Outdoor Adventure USA net several times through the last several months and have found it informative and can hit the Keller repeater from my kitchen, on a HT.
My SYL (Sweet Young Lady), KR6SSY and I are involved though amateur radio, in the Fallbrook Christmas parade, Avocado Festival, as well as volunteering for Red Flag Patrol here in North County for Cal Fire.
I was unaware of the activities, such as the Borrego Days activity until visiting these web pages, that some of you are involved in.
I wish I had known of this, this past October, as I was in the parade, as a participant. Maybe some remember, my black Avalanche with the antennas...
I grew up in Borrego Springs as early as 1960, and have participated in each year's parade since it started 48 years ago.
The cover photo on QRZ is a collage of photos, some taken from Borrego and Earp, CA.
I also am an NRA certified firearms instructor, RSO, Combat Match Range Coordinator and work in a gun store, as a retirement job.
