I check in on the net as Wallace. Dub is my nickname. Short for W.
My Wife and I are really enjoying the Thursday evening nets.
I've been using CB radio going on 50 years and finally decided to get my license. So I picked up an inexpensive HT, built a 1/4 wave ground plane antenna and mounted it about 25 feet up on my Rohn tower that my windmill sits on top of. So, I'm hitting the Keller Peak repeater, about 60 miles or more from me with my 5 watt HT. This hobby really suits me as I work for a company that manufactures RF products.
We are avid wilderness campers and off roaders. I'm a member of SoCalXJ and have a couple of nice Cherokees. We go to the Sierras in the fall when the crowds are gone and love the desert for secluded camping.
I look forward to keeping in touch with everybody on Thursday nights and the opportunity to meet some of you camping out in the wilderness.
