All,

If you're not able to make Borregofest and you're going to be out around Barstow and Yermo, California (Calico Ghost Town) you may want to consider checking out Mogfest Mania October 10-12. Mog centeral will be at the Barstow/Calico KOA just off of I-15 at Ghosttown Road. There are runs on Friday and Saturday but there are usually a few rigs parked there all day. A few more common rigs usually tag along on the runs to see how these unusual European vehicles do off road.

There is always a big contingent of many different models of Unimogs from original condition military surplus, stock restored, highly modified rock crawlers, campers, and custom exploration motorhomes. Next in numbers are all models of Styer Puch Pinzgauers. There are always a few Styer Puch Haflingers as well. Other European vehicles seen at the Mogfest are Volvo C303s, VW Syncro vans, and maybe even a custom MAN chassis 8x8 or 6x6 motorhome.

Here is the URL for the Calico Mogfest Mania Facebook Page for more information -

Bruce, that is pretty cool!!! I have another thing going that weekend in Big Bear but if that falls through, I might make the drive to Barstow to see these.

Dennis,

It would be good to see you again if you can make it.

I'm sure we can find you a ride if you want to try out a Unimog, Pinzgauer, or some other Euro off roader.

Bruce

Oh, that would be fun! I have ridden in on of them before (not sure off the top of my head which it was) as part of being hauled about during Forest Aid in the San Bernardino Mountains, Jim Lyon in Big bear was donating time and his rig to the cause.

Hope you are still rolling your Toyota about as well. I am still going out. Just got done redoing the suspension and steering on my Taco. I plan to be in Anza Borrego at the end of this month and then Saline just before Thanksgiving.

Tim's triple chocolate dutch oven cake was a hit at the Mogfest! I hope there was some at the Borregofest.
