SummerFest Potluck

OK everyone, we haven’t done one of these for a while, but memories of the last potluck at BorregoFest have not faded away. Let’s make this another one to remember!

Let us know what you plan to bring and we’ll keep an up to date list in this thread.

General Information

• Date: Saturday, August 23rd
• Chow Time: 6:00 PM
• Where: Big Pine Flats Group Campsite

The general guideline is to bring food for 8 people.



Appetizers
Gon2Srf: Chips/Salsa
NotAMog: Chips and Samba Salsa (locally produced in Tehachapi, best store bought salsa I've every tasted!)
SDNative: Chips & Dip

Salads
BlueFJ: Tater Salad

Main Dishes
Cnynrat: Carne Asada
Gon2Srf: Beef Teriaki Shiskababs
ibhsbz: Brats
Jesugar: Spicy Chicken, Tortillas, Avocado Salsa

Side Dishes
NotAMog: Pennsylvania Dutch Style Beans (these either go over great or are a total flop, I guess it just depends on the crowd)

Beverages
Gon2Srf: Coke/Captain Morgan/Ice
BlueFJ: Brewskies
Jesugar: Beers

Desserts
SDNative, JustJodi: Cookies
Gon2Srf: Apple Cobbler, Coke & Captain Morgan
Toms: Dutch Oven Peach Cobbler
Jaytil: Banana Bread

Supplies and Cooking Equipment
Cnynrat: Charcoal grill
Gon2Srf: Plates/Cups/Gas Grill/Gas Habachi/Lantern/Portable Table/Firewood??
NotAMog: 2 burner propane stove, Table top propane grill, Extra 4 person table if needed
Bobonel: Stove

I will bring something... don't know what yet. I'll see what my stomach tells me as we get closer to the event. :D

What is the fire situation? I have access to lots of good firewood.

The latest situation is that fires are allowed in SBNF fire rings in developed campsites. Our campsite has one of those, so at the moment we are OK for campfires. This may change as we get closer to the event, so we'll need to keep an eye on the current fire restrictions.

Bring it...I'll help unload it. We'll pull out a couple of extinguishers and have em' ready just in case.

i'm still thinking on FOOD ITEMS to bring. we'll bring our camping stove though so anyone can use it that needs cooking devices.

of course...i will be bringing beverages. is FROGEYE coming? do we need bloody mary mix frog?

Just wanted to give this thread a bump for those of you planning to attend SummerFest. Quite a few of you have not yet signed up to bring something for the Potluck (you know who you are ;) ). Only two more weeks to go!

Time for a weekly bump on this thread.

Here are a few suggestions in case anyone is having problems deciding what to bring:

Something for the grill

Carne Asada Accompaniments - Tortillas, Salsa, Grated Cheese, Sour Cream, Guacamole, Diced Onions, Cilantro ...

Plasticware
