Arizona experiences communications shutdown

This is another example of where radio is still needed. Everyone should at least have a GMRS radio to be able to communicate in case of a complete shutdown of other communication options.

How vulnerable is our communication system when half of a state can be shut down by a vandal with a hack saw? Time to get a plan and a good set of Ham radios to be prepared when a bigger disaster hits.

It was only Century Link in Northern AZ. Vandals cut a fiber optic cable. The Scottsdale/Phoenix area which is Cox was just fine. Flagstaff, Prescott, etc were in a world of hurt. Working over here right now so it was big news all over...which of course I could watch with Cox in Scottsdale.
Regardless, point well taken on alternative comms!
