The Net this week will explore the Mojave Desert with an emphasis on the Eastern Mojave. The Mojave is a great place to visit or live. We will concentrate on a few of the highlights of the Desert during the net. Below are some pictures of our recent travels, to which we will refer during the discussion. Yes, there is water in the Desert. Almost all year long and for almost every year, the Mojave River is dry. When it does run, it can be HUGE. It completely washed out this road. Check out the road way across the river.

Net check-in please for KK6CTT.

Like so many other things that we take for granted, "The desert holds many wonders and secrets that are easily uncovered by the common wanderer and explorer but it is unforgiving for the unprepared and the foolish."

Has anyone personally seen the Dinosaur Trackway that's roughly on the way between Mountain Pass and the Kokoweef Mine?

It's supposedly intentionally obscured to hide it from those who might damage it. I've heard that the BLM office in Needles has arranged group trips there. Someone who had been there gave me the GPS coordinates, but I was unable to find it.

Is this what you are referring to - http://www.fws.gov/carlsbad/PalmSprings ... art6_8.pdf

Also check out Page 6 of the PDF found here: http://nsm.fullerton.edu/dsc/images/DSC ... tracks.pdf . I think that is the area you mentioned.

Yes, that's it.

It's also mentioned in Southern California SUV Trails, Volume II, The Eastern Mojave Desert, Trail 18 "Where Dinosaurs Once Walked".
