Just found out from a thread over on IH8MUD that Yaesu is closing out the venerable FT-8800r in favor of the 8900 quad band. Closeout pricing at $289 including the separation kit. DX Engineering, Universal Radio and Gigaparts all are listing it at this price. Its not even on HRO's site any longer.

I've really liked the dual band feature and head unit separation for mounting it in the Landcruiser, and have wanted to put a radio in my commuter Prius ever since I got it.

I've got my tracking number already! Now to determine just where to mount the head unit in the commuter Prius.

Universal Radio and Gigaparts still had them listed at the same price. HRO doesn't even have it on their website any longer. DX had free shipping and no tax here in CA either...not that you shouldn't pay CA its use tax!
