Sequoia NF / Kings Canyon - September 7-10, 2017

We will be doing a 4 day camping trip to the Kings Canyon & Sequoia National Forest area on September 7-10, 2017. This post is for the purpose of gauging interest. If we have enough, then we will begin planning about a month before the trip,
As you may recall, there was a huge forest fire about two years ago which, we believed, had a significant impact on our usual campsite as well as much of the surrounding area. Due to heavy snow this year, the roads in this area were just recently opened and my conversation with the Ranger's office, produced some very good news. I am informed that the fire damage to the area adjacent to the Buck Rock Jeep Trail (where we camp) , was minor and in many areas, it was impossible to even tell if there was a fire.
The campsite is located at about 8.500 feet and the weather should be a refreshing change from the summer heat. The primary focus of the trip will be relaxation with plenty of time at camp to play radio and enjoy some great cuisine (and wine too).
Time permitting, we will do some wheeling and visit the Buck Rock Look out Station, one of the many caverns in the area, and the Sherman Grove (http://www.nps.gov/seki/learn/nature/sherman.htm ).
We will limit the group to 6 vehicles with a three vehicle minimum. The trails will require high clearance 4 wheel drive. Camping is dispersed and you will need to bring everything that your campsite requires - there are no facilities of any kind. We will coordinate meals once the group is identified.
