URBAN SURVIVAL
CONTINUING NET PREVIEW
This will be the third and last session of the Urban Survival Net (the previous two being March 15 & 22.) We've reserved this session for a discussion of some of the nuts and bolts of survival.
Regardless of where you live, there will be an emergency or a disaster you will need to face at some point in time. Your comfort, your safety, and possibly your life, may be at risk. The extent to which you are prepared, can make all the difference in the world.
The scope of this discussion is enormous, and despite the fact that we have allotted three sessions for this topic, we realize that, at best, we can only hope to touch on some of the more important points. So, if this is of interest, then the most important thing we can do, is to get you some of the basics and point you in the direction of sources where you can get more information, identify places that can provide you with the necessities of survival, and groups and websites that can answer your questions as well as put you in touch with others who are similarly motivated.
The Boy Scouts say: Be Prepared
The LDS Church says(D&C 38:30): If you are prepared, you shall not fear.
The Bible says (Proverbs 27:12): A cautious man sees danger and takes cover. A simpleton strolls on - and pays for it.
Benjamin Franklin said: By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.
Benjamin Disraeli said: I am prepared for the worst, but hope for the best.
Common sense and wisdom demand that one prepare for the inevitable. Whether it be wild fires, floods, civil unrest, tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, toxic chemical spills, extreme weather, or the like, there is virtually no part of the country which will be spared from some sort of disaster or emergency. With no disrespect toward various government programs that are meant to “help”, it is foolish to think that you can count on them to the total exclusion of your own efforts to be prepared. Here is your chance to get ready.
Our plan for all of these sessions is to bring in as much expertise and information as possible. If you can contribute, feel free to post here on the website and join us for the net.
