The topic for the evening is Failure Analysis.

Have you ever had something go wrong, that did not need to go wrong. Let's discuss it on the net.

We discussed several real world scenarios were stuff went bad.
  • James kim
  • Imperial County Off Trail Mine Hazard
  • Holy JIm Trail
  • David Trinkle
  • George Metcalf / Rachel Crowley
We had 30 Check ins and took away several pointers for Enjoying ourselves safely and responsibly.
  • Create a travel plan
Travel with a buddy (preferably in seperate vehicles)
    Communications are a must
Don't get in over your head
Take Food and Water to sustain for several days
    Stay on Trail
Think about what you are doing

Hector:

Excellent net. Now that you have this success under your belt, we can't wait for the next one. Thanks!!

I think that these subjects,(last weeks net and your net) came at just the right time to prepare for Borrego Fest.

Thank you both for your great comments. This is one of those things, that need to be refreshed several times. People can get complacent with their outdoor activities and we can see the results of not having a plan.

It is impossible to plan for everthing, put if you slow things down you can minimize the bad effects of any situation.

I knew there was something I always forgot in my plans....

Actually, though, that list is very good - and basically consists of common sense, something many of us forget to pack while getting everything else loaded up for the trip... :o ;)
