Last night we discussed Tires and field expedient tire repair. Our focus was on tires for vehicles that may be called on for Search & Rescue, to safely evacuate your family, or for 4-wheel Drive vehicles used for outdoor recreation. We talked about the impact of driving habits on tire life and miles per gallon. We discussed tire maintenance. The difference between bias ply and radial tires and the advantages of each was covered. The tire code on the side wall was broken down. The advantages and disadvantages of All Terrain vs. Mud Terrain tires were outlined. The tools and skills were discussed to effect expedient field repair of a tire that has a broken bead, puncture or torn valve stem.

The net lasted a little over an hours and a half. We had 27 check ins.

If you missed the net or any of the details, go to the home page and play the recording of the 11-13-08 net.
