I'm glad that Tom sent out the information on this group in his latest customer E-mail message. Part of the reason I bought my rig (see the Pinzgauer post under Outdoor Adventure Vehicles) was to get out and do ham radio in unusual locations. I've only been into off roading for the last couple of years and I'm more interested in getting out to go camping and seeing new things away from the crowds than rock crawling for the sake of rock crawling.
I'm looking forward to getting out with the group sometime this Summer.

Hi I'm Steve from Long Beach
I just joined and listened to the 2m talk from Keller tonight. Fun talk
I tried to join the roll-call but guess I need to find my owners manual and learn to move beyond Simplex, hence this is why I said I listened
.
Hope I have better luck here.
OK, I'm off to check to look around this site some.
THANKS for the invite.

Hello all;
Well, I don't have a 4X4 (yet
), but I do enjoy riding my bicycle and backpacking in the beautiful Southern California deserts. I am a Venture Crew Advisor, and am therefore responsible for High Adventure activies.
On my last desert backpacking trip, I took my Scout troop up Red Cloud Road, between Chiriaco Summit and Desert Center. A couple of us Scouters are HAMs, so we enjoy using our radios during these outings, and introducing the Scouts to the fun of HAM radio.
I belong to FCARA, and notice a couple familiar call signs who are members also.

Hey Rich:
Welcome. You don't need a 4x4 to belong or to participate. We will be doing many 2wd trips and if you are an outdoor guy, there are plenty of trips available.
