184330_10150423996785643_6334391_n.jpg I do not think Siera Designs makes tents with the same quality as they did in the past but both my old Alpha and Omega have done fine in the snow. With the Thermarest pad and Northface snowshoe, I have been warm and dry in all conditions. May years ago I was ...

Ha, baby wipes! Good call . . I find they smell a bit much though. It is like the folks who use drier sheets, they smell bad . . to me . . .I use the Coleman Bio-wipes: https://www.amazon.com/Coleman-2000014871-Biowipes-30-Count/dp/B008DCWTYC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1481128158&sr=8-1&keywords=bio ...

Re: OAUSA Net - December 8, 2016 - Outdoor Showers
Interesting. I went through a few of these over the years, spent more money that it was worth . . . I ended up with something cheaper and more simple simple. Unless one carries a lot of water, a Navy Shower works best. You get wet, turn it off, soap, rinse, done. Solar showers work if you are going ...

Definitely get me a check-in; KK6CTT. Just as an addition to the benefits of "tracking" and "trackers" this was taken off an "executives" vehicle during a service of the vehicle. The technology is within reach of entities other than governmental letter agencies who lurk in the shadows. Nice little ...

TruckClaws http://www.truckclaws.com/collections/catalog Cool idea but very pricey for some rachet traps and blocks. You could make this yourself from on sale stuff at home depot. Trac Grabbers http://www.tracgrabber.com Far less expensive, and maybe not as well made. One could replace the Velcro ...

Re: $40 APRS plus Upgrades
You can read about APRSDroid’s features set here: https://aprsdroid.org/ The messaging it does with location tracking is the same as all the others, and you can send and receive to/from people using other setups. APRSDroid does not support e-mail so far as I know. I do not know if there is other s ...

Re: $40 APRS plus Upgrades
I bought this last fall and finally got around to setting it all up. I've used it the last two trips but it's not a daily use driving to work. I didn't get to try out the messaging feature because I didn't see anyone I recognized. I need to set my baofeng up to a nonconstant 12v and set the ...

Re: Generators
I got in touch with the guys involved in the QST article about the little generators and noise. They are so cool. I am going to order the filter that did well in the article (Corcom/Tyco 6609037-2) and also maybe play with the FT240-31 cores they had some success with. I will play at home, then I ...

Re: $40 APRS plus Upgrades
A year later, still running this setup. Just used it on a rip to the El Paso Mountains. We left at different times and took different routes but tracked all the way to camp Friday. Used it all weekend and found it pretty useful, letting us spread out at times. We find that comms on 70cm work well ...
