APRS is one of those Ham Radio things that is considered by most of us, at one time or another. Personally, in the beginning, I discovered that it had an extremely high aggravation factor. Once I got past all that, and had a well functioning set-up, it has turned out to be a very useful tool. Unless you have an electrical engineering degree and a huge reservoir of patience, it is best, if you want to get started in APRS, to get the help of someone who has gone through the process and knows how to do it. Many of us at OAUSA were very fortunate to have the help of others who had already been down the APRS road.
As a natural consequence of the multiple uses that APRS offers, you will always get a new perspective and discover other applications when you hear different people speak on the subject. Our guest this week will be Jim Sanders, AG6IF, who may be known to many of you. Jim has been active with APRS for many years and some of his projects can be found at the links below. We also will have a number of long time users on hand to lend their perspective as well. The net should be informative for current users as well as those who want to get started. Join us!!

Definitely get me a check-in; KK6CTT.
Always a pleasure seeing what AG6IF is up to and at least hear about the technology he is working on. I will be in a meeting at the beginning but I will be out as soon as possible.
Just as an addition to the benefits of "tracking" and "trackers" this was taken off an "executives" vehicle during a service of the vehicle. The technology is within reach of entities other than governmental letter agencies who lurk in the shadows. Nice little tracker whose origin was unknown and usually have serial numbers that will lead back to the company who tracks the device. This is no ham APRS.

H-U-A or "Hooah!" = Heard Understood & Acknowledged. In context: "Roger that sir, HUA!"

I don’t know about lurking in the shadows, this device looks pretty easy to find. They sell it on Amazon (with mixed results):lrsrngr wrote:Definitely get me a check-in; KK6CTT.

And the case with the hardware store magnet is also on Amazon:

Looks like it requires activation and a service to work.
