Earthquake Net

Post by Frogeye » Thu Jan 08, 2009 9:10 pm

Finally I got to see how cool Ham radio is. I was listening to the OAUSA net when an earthquake hit near Pamona and like 10 people all "break" on the frequency and start saying Earthquake! I freaked out! I felt nothing here in SD but that was amazing how well HAM radio worked in an emergency.

Hey Froggy:

I'm glad to see you listening in on the nets.

The quake sure made for a spicy net tonight. Never a dull moment.

Great net. I've got to QRT for now. I was listening when everyone started to "break" on you. It scared the crap out of me I was like "earthquake!" and waited to feel it. Didn't feel it though way down here in SD. Dave, I can hit Keller no problem now. QSO. 73s

No damages or injuries are reported following a 4.5-magnitude not 5.01 quake that struck San Bernardino County.
