Greetings and Thanks for having me
First off, I want to say I am glad I found this group! My name is Daniel Handysides (friends call me Danny) I love the outdoors and backpack and camp frequently. Still saving for an off-road toy but that will come. Grow up in Africa for the first 7 years of life, then moved back to my parents home in Canada, lived there for 10 years, then to Michigan for 4 (Undergrad Bs Zoology) then one year living in the rain forests of Nicaragua with the Miskito Indians. That years was amazing. 6 hours drive into the forests no electricity and old old logging roads. Just an amazing time. That is were I got into ham as it was my only communication out. I had a Toyota Hi-lux as the vehicle and that was offroading at its best. 4 foot deep mud ruts, rivers that would completely submerge the engine. What a joy!!! Anyways then I moved to the concrete jungle of the IE to get my masters (MPH-Environmental Public Health) and now finishing my doctorate in Health Education (DrPH). At 29 I am happily married, to a cute little nurse who loves the outdoors as much as me. And sadly is a better off road driver. (She grow up with brothers) I am excited to get into discussions on off-the grid life and if anyone wants to plan a trip to the forest just message me!!!

Hey, Danny, great to have you on board !!
Your experience in the rain forests and the related survival skills should be very useful and interesting to all those on OAUSA. While I've never been there, I have customers who've shown me videos of the of road races there, and it is amazing to see how resourceful the people are with the vehicles they run.
Looking forward to hearing more about your adventures...

Re: Greetings and Thanks for having me
Well, anytime you are heading out give me a call, always up for a camping trip or off-road adventure. I will look for some more pictures but here is the badly beat up and abused truck. I broke those tires down easily over 100 times in the year...The parrots never helped much. The home was solar power..Ham radio, rain water collected for drinking. Simply heaven
