South Bay newbie

Post by calicharlie » Wed Mar 18, 2009 5:44 pm

Very happy new FJ owner checking in. My Element wasn't taking me all the places that I wanted to go so I traded the Toaster in. I've only had the FJ for 5 weeks and I'm already in love. Thanks to the members on this board for posting detailed build ups, these were very useful in my buying decision.

My rig is bone stock so I'll be looking for help fixing this problem I'm also looking forward to hitting the trails with the rest of the SoCal FJ crowd.

BTW, I'm always up for hiking, biking, paddling, camping, surfing.

Welcome. How long have you been in SoCal? Where did you arrive from?

Speaking of hiking, have you explored the Santa Monica Mountains between Sunset at the base on Mulholland at the crest?

I've been doing a lot of hiking lately to prepare for a week in the Grand Canyon. When I have something scheduled, I'll let you know.

Thank you Larrry, you have already helped me out a lot. Love your dual battery kit and your FJ.

Hiking up to this made me dizzy. Taken at the start of trail crest on the way to Mt. Whitney.

DaveK, thanks for the welcome. I love the South Bay, been here for 3 years and I would hate to move.
OLLIE, thanks for the welcome.
bruisedFJ, Been in SoCal most of my life, grew up in Fontana, lived in Utah and Massachusetts for a few years for work but other than that all SoCal. Only place I've been in Santa Monica Mountains is Malibu Sate park and Temescal canyon. I have ridden my motorcycle up and down Mulholland many times. Something interesting at the location you listed?
Grand Canyon is on my list of places I'd like to explore. Here is one part of it I I'd like to explore http://www.waterfallswest.com/waterfall.php?id=25
gon2srf, thanks for the welcome and your nailed the picture. Aren't we lucky to have places like this in our back yard?

FJ is coming along nicely, here it is in Tahoe National Forest by Meadow lake.
