I'd love to participate, but Nikos and I won't be there 'til late Friday night.... :o
Yup Friday only. I can drop some trash around the campsite for you if that will make you feel any better.

Thanks - I can always count on you

I doubt if I'll be able to make Calico. The Pinzgauer is still at the fabricator and it won't be finished until next weekend.

This is where they plan to camp. It's at the base of the Odessa/Doran loop.
Gon2Srf, I've signed up to help with the clean up Friday. Will you be there as well? If you'll be arriving later in the day, try to reach me on the ham or CB when you roll in so we can confirm where OAUSA will be camping.

Looks like I'll probably have the guy with the Samarui with me this trip again and maybe another FJ who isn't on any of the forums.

The plan right now is to have the San Diego caravan meet at the Shell on the east side of the 15 at El Norte (just north of the 78) in Escondido at around 6:30 am. It's looking like about a 2.5 hour drive from there to Calico.

San Diego Caravan Meet Address:
Shell
615 W El Norte Pky
Escondido, CA 92026-3900

Since I am taking my son I think a meet time of 6:30 would work. That puts us in Calico around 9:00 am, conditions permitting.

Not sure yet Jon but I will look you up either way. I plan on camping in Odessa with the MJR guys on Friday if they're cool. We'll see.

Let me know what repeater you'll be coming in on, and Nikos and I will monitor for your arrival - plus we'll have cellphones where reception works...

Can you post a list of repeaters we will be using up there so I can make sure my radio is programmed with them?

Is it the one mentioned in the first post? 146.760 (PL: 123.0)? Any more?

Eric (sdnative) has it right. The repeater listed in the first post is one of the two Barstow repeaters available [146.760 (PL: 123.0)]. Truth is when we get to the top of the hill just north of Barstow we should be able to communicate on simplex as well (147.510). ;)

Here is the whole MJR thread.

If you look at the map of the planned clean up route some of you might want to skip the Doran part, might be a bit rough on some of the sheel metal. From what I saw of the planned route it starts at Mule canyon and ends doing the Doran loop. On the plus side they run it going donw the 2 waterfalls not up it is still a bit more challenging than Odessa. Could be wrong of course but it might keep some folks from getting in over their head

Yeah, your being kind. Not too many IFS suspension FJ's have made Doran without some serious stacking and tugging. I'll spin off at the top if I make it out there. Don't want the cleanup guys to have to wipe my paint off the rocks. :)
