Font Size for forums

Post by gon2srf » Sun May 18, 2008 9:53 pm

Any chance that the "forums" will come with a font size adjustment like the rest of the website anytime soon? My eyes get soooo tired viewing the forums in the current colors and font size combo.

I'm not seeing much steady traffic from Adventure 4x4.net. I really think it has a lot to do with how the site "feels" which is to a certain degree based on how it looks. It's not just "getting used to it" either as I have heard others say. The forum section is very understated, too much so IMO. I realize I am a new member and haven't contributed much yet but it would be a shame to let this opportunity to gain new members slip by. :)

No offense meant to the admins, I'm sure a great deal of work has gone into the site and I am sure you are very proud of it and have every right to be so.

Thanks,

Scott

I agree that the "feel" of this site hasn't met the expectations of those coming over from ADV4X4. IMO, that was the ergonomically one of the best color/font combinations available on a forum - easy to read, calm colors, good contrast, and little fatigue after reading over time.

The issue here, as I understand it, is that merging the two sites is the first priority - trying to make a smooth transition for the threads from ADV4X4 to OAUSA, which use different software. Once the technical hurdles have been crossed (I am hoping very quickly), the admins will be better able to work on other aesthetic issues being brought up by those checking out the site.

I agree that this will need to be addresses quickly, or the site risks losing many of the members looking to come over from ADV4X4, as well as new members from other sites as well. I hope those who come over while the site is getting up to speed will give it a chance to implement some the suggestions that have been given before giving up prematurely....

I don't know a think about writing code? I was hoping it was as simple as making a few key strokes here and there and "Viola" it's done. :geek: That's kinda why I asked about just changing the font size for the time being. Obviously it's not that simple or it would have been done already.

I spend a lot of time perusing the net and the forums here at OAUSA.net are hands down the most difficult to view that I visit. Having said that, I'm sure if I just put on my reading glasses I'd be fine. :) There I admitted it, I used reading glasses.

I'm in complete agreement regarding the physical structure of the site - I'm not sure what can be changed easily, and what will require more extensive software mods to be changed. I'll have to leave that question to the software gurus of the site.

Reading glasses, you say.... don't feel bad, old man, I'm sure i'm not far behind you on that

There is a change font size control to adjust the font size for when the reading gets tough.

See the "VA^" Button at the top right of the page next to the Title heading click on the ^ to make the text bigger.

Hope this helps for the time until the admins can get to tweaking the code.

A great job that is not missed, thanks for the hard work.

Hey Hector! Thank YOU! That 'vA^' button at the top right of this site works great. It looks like there are three choices, small, medium, and large. Good eye. ;)

Wow that worked awesome !!! Now I can put off buying reading glasses for another couple of years !!

Seriously, though, most of the feedback I have received from people who try to move over to this site is complaints about the layout, color combinations, and general difficulty navigating around the site. This is a step in the right direction, and hopefully we'll be able to implement other changes to make it more user friendly and comfortable for those joining in...

Chris,

Thanks for being more descriptive in my instructions, I am glad it is helpful to many. I have recently needed to get glasses for reading so I know what that is like, I feel your pain. :D
