Avalon Dive Park trip

Post by socal_rubi » Fri Mar 06, 2009 2:11 pm

My brother and his wife were in town for a few days, so I took them Scuba Diving in the dive park in Avalon. We took the Catalina Flyer over. The water was absolutely flat for the ride over. When we arrived in Avalon the temp was 80°, with only a few clouds in the sky and no wind. Since they are not certified divers we were doing an introductory dive with a dive outfit there in Avalon. They provided all the equipment as well as a short course on diving safety. The dive was perfect. The visibility was about 30 feet. My brother and his wife blew through there air in about 18 minutes, so it was a short dive, but well worth it. Here are some images…

This guy did not want me to take his picture. I took several and this was the best one.

The ride back to Newport was great; we pulled into the harbor just in time to catch the sunset.

Wow, those are awesome photos...

I've done a bunch of snorkeling, but never scuba diving - I didn't realize you could scuba dive without being certified...now I might actually get to try it out first.

Roughly what is the cost for the equipment rental and instructions your brother took at the Avalon Dive park ?

It's $95.00 for everything, equipment and instruction.

The Catalina Flyer cost $68.00 round trip.

Total $163, not counting the pancakes I had, Those were some great pancakes man, mmmmmmmm, strawberry w/whipcream.

Thanks guys. It's been realy great doing other stuff besides wheelin all the time, but with my new lift being installed this week I'm looking forward to getting out there more often. It's gonna be tough having to decide between diving or wheelin. Isn't that horrible?
