Superstions Luau- April 4 & 5th

Post by BorregoWrangler » Sun Apr 05, 2009 10:36 pm

It turned out to be a very nice weekend out in the desert. Got a little too much sun, though. Anyway, I met up with Steve (thatsalexus?) saturday morning and headed on out. Once we got down there we figured to just keep an eye out for the large group of FJ's. Yeah, crashed the party with the Jeep! Big thanks to FunJunkie for the invite and setting this thing up. Too bad the pig didn't work out quite as planned.

Once I got all my gear unloaded and camp set up, Steve and I tore off into the mountain for some fun. We cruised along the rolling sand dunes toward Sand Dam and then along a narrow tail atop a high ridge to the north side of the mountain. We tried looking for the trailhead to Knock-on-Wood trail but missed it. On the way back we hit up Lucky Lady Trail and found a few rocky areas to play in. The next day, we looped around the north side again and tried squeezing through a few narrow rocky trails, such as Wrangler Canyon. One lead us to this gnarly rock ledge/waterfall. Tried as I might, I couldn't get up it. So on we went to Sand Dam Canyon and back to camp. This was only my third time out there and although it's not that vast of an area, there's still alot to explore.

Back at camp. Time to get my drink on!

But first a little fun with guns.

Looks like a fun time and a cool place. Sorry I couldn't make it, got tied up with things at home.
What happened with the pig, John?

Well, they thought it had been cooking long enough but it crawled out of the hole and started snarling at everyone until some came up behind it and hit it with a shovel! No, it just needed some time on the BBQ after it was dug up.
