Thanks for posting pictures and sounds like the on/off trail issue has been addressed.

I did nearly that same trip on Saturday the 4th. Started at 15/138 went up through Arrowhead to Big Bear. I'm glad you told us about the tree on John Bull because a group of us were talking about doing that trail soon. We're in trucks so there's no going around that tree.

Nice job Aaron. SCLR had a similar situation two years ago, and we failed the test. Its more accurate to say I failed the test. This was before I took the TreadLightly class with you. There was a large dried out Joshua Tree that had fallen across the connector between Berdoo Canyon and the Geology Trail. There was a very well established track around the large Joshua Tree, and as leader, I just followed the track. I had probably 15 other rigs behind me that followed along. It was later that day at our lunch stop that I literally slapped my hand to my forehead as I realized what I just done.

A few months later, running the same trail with another group, the tree was still there and the bypass was well worn. This time I had my vehicle with a winch, and we pull the tree out of the road, and with shovels and a small group of 4 guys, bladed over the bypass and did our best to re-establish the primary trail. I still feel a twinge of guilt about the first time I went through, but I feel better about having taken the time to fix what I could. I don't have any photos of the tree, but it's in this general area:

Oh yea, Berdoo Canyon to Geology Trail is a nice little run. Thanks for taking the time to do right by it!

It just sucks when they decide to take a break with you still in the saddle. It can be painful.
