Budget Home Grown Repairs Completed

Post by Frogeye » Wed Apr 15, 2009 11:21 am

Well, I finally got around to completing my bodywork on both of my rear quarter panels. I bungered up the driver side quarter panel running a very fun trail in Southern California called Cleghorn.

Then, about a year later I bungered up the passenger side rear quarter panel running a very cool trail out in Jacumba, CA called Buttercup.

So, since I wheel my truck and I'm likely to bungerup something again, I opted to do the repairs myself since I have some bodywork experience. Armed with my trusty Harbor Freight repair kit, some Bondo UV activated Bondo, some Dupli-Color ultimate silver, and sand paper, I went to work. :bangin:

I'm very happy with the way it turned out.

Nice! When you say you have some experience, did you work for a body shop or something?

I used dupli color rattle can. I still need to wet sand and buff it out. I didn't do a perfect job because I expect that I most likely will bang it up again. I learned how to do body work while restoring my Austin Healey. :ugeek:

That looks great. Being able to do this sure takes some of the agony out of the inevitable dings and dents that the trail serves up.
