MGySgtScott aka "Master Guns" New Member Intro.

Post by MGySgtScott » Sat Apr 18, 2009 6:35 pm

Hello,
A little about me and how I may add "and learn" from the community you have here.
Who I am:
I am Scott Anderson (KB6LCW) A general class HAM who wants to become a VE and studies for the Extra when I have time. Born and raised in Santa Monica, CA. I am living on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, CA but have homes in Glendora, CA and in Pahrump, NV.
- A Marine with 32 yrs of service, who has 3 tours in Iraq. If your also a Veteran my hat is off to you. I am a VFW Life Member (My post is in Udorn, Thailand.) and I will retire this year.
Jeep:
- I have an 1989 Jeep Wrangler that is Stock, but for Body Armor Bumpers. I am more a Dirt Road Guy then an Off Road Guy but I am hoping to change that.
Shooting:
- I am a NRA Firearms instructor, certified in Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun and Personal Protection in the Home. I am also a FBI Certified Firearms Instructor beside my 32 years in the Marines teaching Firearms. I have attended most of the Big Named Shooting Schools and still attend them regularly. I am going to an "Appleseed Project" class in a Month to see what they teach.
- As I retire I look to help others at the Community Level be SAFE and Accurate with what ever Firearm they own. I am not advertising here, just want to share what I know and hope to find like minded people.
- and a SASS Cowboy Action Shooter "Master Guns Scott". I am the World Champion Precision Pistol Shooter for 2008. The "End of Trails" World Cowboy Action Shooting event is held by SASS at Founders Ranch in New Mexico. I am also a "RO2" in both Cowboy Action and Mounted shooting.
With all that said:
- I am still a student and look to learn from others, go back to Collage, and start a new chapter in my life when I retire. I am reading up on Raising Chickens and Primitive Survival Skills right now.

I found this site by accident But Boy am I pleased to see it, "The Good Lord Provides" and the many Topics and Posts from so many local people. Online often people are all over the world and not local friends. I look to get to know many people and attend events when I retire and move back to Glendora.

Thanks to all for the info you share on here, I am learning lots.

MG:

First and foremost, thank you for all that you do and have done. We are all in your debt!

We are very pleased to welcome everyone to our site and we have discovered that everyone can both learn and teach. Your skills and background cover many of the areas of interest that we all share. Please post up often and think about joining us for our weekly Amateur Radio Nets on Thursday nights.

OAUSA will be sponsoring regular Ham license testing and we will always need qualified VEs. Our first test, along with our meet and greet, will be on the 25th at the Bass Pro Shops in Rancho Cucamonga.

Welcome aboard!

Welcome aboard Master Guns Scott.

I am a former Marine of 8 years myself. Got out in '99. Was a Crew Chief on CH-53E "Super Stallions".

You have quite an impressive Resume there. I look forward to learning from you and hopefully we can offer you some advice as well.

I look forward to meeting you and seeing you on the trails.

John,
It holds up but I have allot of things to fix on it. I did have a CARB issue and now they say I have a intake leak. I am waiting to find what you all say as to who to go to to fix this right and reliable. I have been taken advantage of by the regular mechanics down here. So I am not going to use the guys near base.

Electrical I can do but engine work I just cant do with my tools and such all in storage. Such is my life till I finish up down here.

I am wanting to find a mechanic who know YJs and will not rip me off. (Just a bit biter from the non jeep guys down here.)

Any Idea?

Yeah, 20 year old rigs need a little TLC. For intake/exhaust issues I go to Valley Muffler in El Cajon. I'm still lookin for a good engine mechanic myself.

Fortunately, there's a few knowledgeable folks around here who might be able to point ya in the right direction.

Hello MasterGuns,

I loved my time in the Corps. I thank you for mentoring the many Marines that have gone on to do Great things. I can remember many great Master Gunnery Sergeants that have made a difference in my life. That is truly an earned rank.

Be sure to look me up when you get back to Glendora, we are almost neighbors. I also spent a lot of time at 22 Area and Camp Del Mar.
