Disabled Explorers could us your help
Disabled Explorers could us your help
Some of you know me from Adventure4x4 or Expedition Portal or where and some of you don't know who in the world I am....
but Disabled Explorers which is a resource I started to help with vehicle enhanced access to the backcountry by the handicapped.
This summer we will be on a 24 day adventure from Canada to Mexico along dirt roads on the Continental Divide. After some serious talking with folks smarter than me I have put off seeking any more Sponsorship due to time running short and not wanting to market for a product that might not be the best for the disabled community.
Instead I am reaching out to the off road community for help with any older used equipment we can have or get cheap...
2 Handheld or mobile ham radios (2m or dual band)
Antennas/mounts for the above if we get mobiles
Benchmark series Map books of New Mexico, Colorado, Wy, Montana, Idaho, Utah
10# propane tank or other tall thin/small propane tank
Propane latern
Propane Distribution tree
Brochure Printing
Biz Card Printing
Snatch Blocks (2-3)
Master Pull kenetic strap
Things we will need after the trip for ongoing operations:
CB radios & mag mount antennas (to make loaner & gift radios)
Handheld or mobile ham radios and antennas/mounts
Gloves
Tree saver straps (old is fine)
Snatch straps (static or kenitic)
I am working hard on our non-profit status but I am not sure if it will be done in time for our trip so please realize these won't be tax deductible donations...the same with any money you might want to send to cover fuel, food cost, campsite fees, vehicle service & such....I just set up a "Buy A Mile" page on http://www.disabledexplorers.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; under How to Help for that.
thanks in advance for any help..
enjoy,
Lance Blair

no worries...
hey get Lynette on here so I can give her credit as the First Person to make a donation to Disabled Explorers...I think she will get the first shirt off the press or something special.
Thanks for the support and I look forward to our Socal event which should be in the Fall...we will need passenger seats for the Ride-A-Long

Hi lance, it sounds like you have a really cool adventure set up. I'll have to open up another tab on my Firefox browser with your website in it. I like you, you're good peeps.

hey frog,
the Continental Divide Expedition is just an attention getter, I was going to do the trip anyway and since founding DE figured I would get extra "mileage" out of it...
The real work of DE is the everyday stuff like our Ride-A-Longs, Driver Training, Guided Trips and more....so if you ever meet anyone who might be interested in vehicle enhanced backcountry exploration please tell them about us....or if you meet a handicap person who is already out there please have them contact us so we can tell their story.
enjoy
