2009-04-06 Borrego Calcite & Telephone Booth

Post by Voodoo Blue 57 » Mon Apr 20, 2009 11:27 pm

Spent the weekend out in the desert a few weeks ago and I'm finally getting the pictures posted.
Our weekend included 17 Palms Oasis, Calcite Canyon scenic area, the Telephone Booth and the airplane junk yard (no Pictures of this). The weather was great, after the wind died out Friday night. It took all four of us to set up the tent in the wind.

Enjoy the pictures:

The couple we were with have spent a lot of time in and around Anza Borrego and in all their travels they had never seen a plant like this one. They seemed to know the names of most of the flora and fauna.

This was Bill's first ever camping trip and off-road adventure. We were told to bring him back alive.

Foot note on Bill's first ever camping and off-road trip:
Dave who owned the black 91 jeep got an email a couple of days after our trip from Bill with a picture of a 91 jeep that was for sale asking Dave what he thought about it. Dave told him Bill he already had one :D . Last I heard Dave was going to give Bill a quick intro into the jeeps workings, lockers, gearing, etc. and I guess what to look for in a jeep.
