my 79 dodge ramcharger

here's a few pics of my 79 RC and some of our recent trips. at the moment it has an old rough country 4'' lift, 33's a rear sure grip and a warn winch bumper. no winch yet, the bumper was a lucky junk yard score for $65. the engine is the original 360ci w/eddy 4barrel. it was an auto w/np203 full time but i swapped in a NV4500/dana 300 combo. the nv4500 is from a 99 dodge, gas version(diesel input/outputs are different), the dana 300 is from an 86 CJ-7. for now it has 3.55 gears. future plans are an efi 360 magnum, 4.10's a 6" tough country lift(already have it) and 35's. a 8.75" rear diff and part time fr dana 44 are going in the next week or so. a factory roll bar at least, hopefully a full cage are down the road too.
not going any bigger on the tires for a few reasons. 37's rub like crazy without a body lift too and as a single dad of two girls, new 35's every couple of years are easier to swallow than 37's. i do a lot of driving to get to 4x4 trails and fishing/camping spots, from borrego to moab just in the last year.
i've only had the truck a year. i bought it from the son of the original owner who passed away 2 years ago. the lift was installed by dad a few years ago. the top has never been off(going to change after the cage is in) and no rust. it spent it's life in az. this is my 4th dodge, my first 4x4 was a 1972 chevy k-5 blazer in 1991.

Re: my 79 dodge ramcharger
Looks nice and it appears that it gets used too
When I was a kid, my dad had a 1970 Blazer that we would take on trips. A lot of memories there.
How do you like the NV4500? When my auto kicks the bucket, I am thinking about swapping one in. That would be a 5-speed with super low first?
Hope to see your rig in action sometime.

Re: my 79 dodge ramcharger
i love the nv4500. in a dodge, jeep, chevy or even toyota it's an easy swap. plenty of adapters for jeeps and toys to use nearly any engine or t-case combo you can think of. dodges and chevy's don't need adapters in most cases. plus the different input/output variations you can swap to make for some intresting combo's too. 5.61 first in most(6.something in some early chevy versions) and .73 5th. just do some research before buying one. dodge has two, a gas version like mine and a diesel version. i believe chevy may have 2-3 versions as well.
thanks for the comments guys. yep, it gets used a lot. wouldn't have it any other way.

chipmunk is a side spur off wheeler's pass NW of vegas in the spring mt range.
you can't see them in the pics really but there are plenty of "natural" pinstripes on the RC.

Very nice rig you have there. I was hoping you'd post up this thread when I saw your introduction thread.
