Last month I had my shoe repair man put new sliders on the zippers. That solve the probelm that started after 3 years of heavy use. I broke one section of a pole. It was my fault. I didn't stake it down first and tried to set it up in a heavy wind. The wind folded the tent back on its self. The fly goes almost to the ground and provides good protection from wind and sand blowing in thru the mesh.
I find it interesting that you were able to get a shoe repairman to make that repair. What made you think to ask him? I have thrown away numerous jackets and tents over the years as the sliders/zippers oxidize and become permanently bonded to one another from salt water exposure and lack of use. What was the cost of the repair? I have a favorite wind breaker that has that issue right now.

The tent arrived today as described and with all literature, wow talk about service, thank you Aaron! I set it up in about half the time as my REI beast, it should work out great. Just one question, what is the extra pole for? It is not described in the literature and does not appear to fit either in the tent or the fly nor does it look like a repair piece, what gives? :)

Thanks again Aaron.

Scott

P.S.

Hope you don't mind if I show the tent sold. :D

Yeah thanks... I forgot to make the change.

When I sent up the tent for the pics... I looked the rainfly, but I did not bother to put it on the tent... As I recall... that extra pole fits into the rainfly to protect the doorway a little better. But it has been a while.

I had the shoe repair man look at a leather bag I had that had a bad zipper. He fixed it for about 3 dollars by just puting on a new slider. So when my leather jacket need zipper work I took it to him. Same result. I wasn't sure if he would do the tent but he agreed. It was a bit more - $10 per zipper.
