Chloride/Havasu

Post by ssc » Fri Jul 31, 2009 11:18 am

Since it was 115 in town, we decided to go up past Kingman where it is 15 degrees cooler and see the town of Chloride. Not much to see. They have a trail that takes you up into the mountains to see some mines and murals. The trail only has a few tough rocky spots. We did run into a few washed out spots and a large rock in the trail. A fun trip and then back on the water the next day.

It is paradise for the outdoor minded. I would like to set a run out here. There are numerous trails I have not explored, but we try to hit a new trail everytime we come out. Most of the land is BLM or state and camping is allowed as is shooting and wheeling. Yesterday, we let go with the AR's and the AK's. If interested, I can sure get the info on camping. Also, the hotels are cheap. Depending on the size of the group, other plans are possible.

Boating, we can roll from Havasu south to the parker dam and north to Needles. It really isn't that far out here. It takes me over 2 hours to get to AB. It takes me 3-4 hours to get to havasu. In going through the gorge, they say bighorn sheep are seen on occasion.

Something to think about :)

We should really think about doing a fest event out there.

RiverFest

I know StevesKJ was wanting to do something like that also.
