Eric, I did similar damage to the same bumper. To straighten it, you'll need a solid tree and some chain. Be aware, though - the pieces that bent will not be the ones that bend back, but superficially it will look straight. If you're not impatient to fix it, you can examine mine at BorregoFest.

I would rather not use the trucks power to pull the bumper back out, especially since I will need to do it in reverse and it will be very hard on the gears. My friend has a body shop with a frame puller, so we can pull it back out with the exact amount of force and direction necessary to do the job (hopefully). In addition, after the flooding the truck is running really rough. I have checked all the usual suspects (water in the dizzy, electrical connections, etc), but it is still there. I also threw a CEL. I may have sucked some water in the intake (lets hope not). I need to get all of this sorted out. I have a month and a half before BorregoFest

Those pictures of the clouds are excellent. I've never seen clouds that look like they are dripping like that.

Let me clarify here. My issue is with pulling in reverse, not necessarily with using the trucks motive force. If it was forward, I wouldn't have a problem with it. But it's a moot point, because the frame puller will do a much better job.

Me too. It ran much better today, so let's hope whatever issues were resolved.

In most cases, the reverse gear is a higher numeric ratio, and will provide more power, than a forward gear...but I'd use the frame puller if it's available - more directed force with no drivetrain to worry about

Next time anyone of us is caught in a flash flood, I'd say the best thing to do is just get your ring up on higher ground and let it pass. It won't take that long. Even if the running water isn't all that deep, you could still mess something up on a rock or boulder that's obscured by the water. BlueFJ sure knocked his alignment out on something out there, besides everything else. Other than all that, it sure was fun!

BTW, I was able to cure my problem with the VSC lights coming on at 40 MPH by disconnecting my battery cable to reset the CPU. I'm getting the alignment done this morning.

I am in China, but had to jump on after reading this report. Remember Eric, If there is more than one person in the rig, you always have someone to blame. We know it wasn't a flaw in your driving skills, so it must have been Navigator failure. Yeah, that sounds good.

Glad everyone is OK. In regards to how they drive in China---it is just this side of organized insanity.

Have a safe trip back Steve. I managed to squirm out of a business trip to China. Not because I dont want to see China, but those plane rides are horrible. Although I am looking forward to my next trip to Hungary..
