I found out about this via a friend of the family that is a HAM instructor.
There will be a HAM class and test at the Red Cross in Santa Ana on the weekend of Oct 3rd & 4th.
It's a two day class with the test at the end of the 2nd day.
The class includes instruction on picking a radio, and mounting techniques for off road vehicles.
The cost is $15 plus materials.
Call 714-549-5000 to get exact times and address.
There are 12 seats left as of this post.
Anyone interested needs to call no later than next week.
Due to the short time between now and the test date, they may not be able to get you the study material in time, but you can always drop by thier shop and get it.
I'm gonna try to be there, depending on how my dad is doing.

Re: HAM licensing class and test in Santa Ana
This is a great way to knock the test out in a weekend. I highly recommend it.socal_rubi wrote:I found out about this via a friend of the family that is a HAM instructor.

Re: HAM licensing class and test in Santa Ana
Just curious, why do think this test site did not show up while doing a search on the ARRL Exam Session Search link?

Re: HAM licensing class and test in Santa Ana
The ARRL only knows what is sent to them.
In other words someone needed to let then know about the test session with enough lead time to publish it.

Re: HAM licensing class and test in Santa Ana
I thought those who were administering the training and testing would go through an application process and this process might automatically alert ARRL. Thanks for the correction.hmfigueroa wrote:The ARRL only knows what is sent to them.

Re: HAM licensing class and test in Santa Ana
That should have been them . . .
It is quite possible the test is being administered under the auspices of another coordinating body such as W5YI or some other there are more than 10-15 such VEC's
