"These lands managed by the El Centro BLM Field Office, are located in eastern San Diego County,
California. Be advised that the other BLM managed public lands of the El Centro Resource Area are
unavailable for shooting due to the lack of identified designated shooting areas as defined by the
Eastern San Diego County Resource Management Plan signed and dated June 2006. This Closure
Order is necessary to protect US Border Patrol agents as they perform their duties along the top of
Airport Mesa."

What kind of bureaucratic mumbo jumbo is that? Anyone care to take a stab at the meaning of: " lack of identified designated shooting areas".

I sure don't know. :?: That was a great area to shoot but I do know of a few others not too far away. That's right up on that hill where Ollie and I got turned away by a Border Patrol agent.

John,

I can't tell from the map... Does this cover that area where we saw that active shooting area with all the targets (trash) set up when descending down the west side of that mountain?

No, it does not. The map shows the restricted area along the road just at the base of the hill with the new road. It still looks open across the valley where we came down from. But I'd like to see just where it's posted out there.

There's a more detailed map of the area at the bottom of the document.
