It's definitely a nice rig. I always wondered why the 91-92 model years were far more common for diesel swaps than the 93+. Since the difference in initial vehicle cost would be minimal, why not start with a 93-94 with lockers. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the engine for the swap has to be the same year or newer, and most of the 4bt engines out there are of the early nineties genre (i.e. a 92 motor cannot be swapped into a 93+ truck).

The '91/'92 80 series is very similar to the 62 series from a mechanical point of view - making any type of major swap easier. If you want to do a diesel swap, it's fine - but the newer models offer more if you are leaving the stock drivetrain in it...better trans. transfer case, full-time, f/r disc brakes, more stock HP/torque, same/better fuel economy, nicer interior (IMO), larger flares for oversize tire coverage, easy to obtain / cheaper to replace engine accessory components, etc...
