I'm good with 75/80. The Scorpion is cooperating so far.

I'm good with 80 here at home or if based somewhere that I can either throw up a resonant wire or tune a random. But, unfortunately few froaders are going to set themselves up for that type of antenna. In keeping with the idea behind the net, I think we need to cater to the crowd. Truth is, it's hardly a crowd. I'm figuring the most an average froadin' ham will muster is a 40m radiator. There are select few antennas that will do 80m mobile. Like your 680, they are larger bodied "screwdriver" types.
A daytime net on 20m may be the solution. But, would make it tougher to coordinate control operators here at home due to soccer games and honey-do's. I'm single and don't suffer from that affliction, hi,hi. But, some froaders are still rolling at the 3-4 pm hours, certainly during the summer months. Not a problem, as long as people remember the time while in motion. In the winter, I like having a campsite at least an hour b4 sundown. Maybe we could test 20m during the late afternoon now that the time has changed.
I'll be on 20m for a few hours tomorrow afternoon. If you'd like to see how it'll function just chime in here.

Randy:

I'll keep the radio going today (Sunday) and I will check it out during the day, as I take care of other family business. Let me know where you will be.

I'm getting ready to leave for a little trip to Riverside from Cypress. 12:00pm noon PST. I'll have the HF to 7190 and be monitoring Keller also. I have both a Yaesu FT-857d and a FT-2800 mounted in my truck. See what happens.

Well, 20 has been great all day. I've been off and on through the day. But hadn't checked here since this AM.
I've picked up Monserrat, Senegal, an Peru. Right now, I'm listening to a guy on 14308.75 operating from a lighthouse. I'll hangout here and check the site every ten minutes or so. Just find an open freq and post up I'll run over and give a call.
edit: Logged the lt.house as his last call. Still moving around on 20 waiting for Pacific stations to kick in and doing errands around the pad.
If you want just give me a call 949-355-2196 and we'll carve out a spot and see if 20 will work better.

I'll give it a shot, although I've abandoned the net idea. I'm still working the JA's on 20 but I'll jump over to 40 for a bit. Post up here to let me know where you'll be. BTW, what is your callsign?
There are a couple of nets working close by to 7190 due to the JIDX contest.

Roger... Just put out a call.

Update at 0306Z, no joy.

I could barely hear what I thought was you calling. I'm going to be on 80m later on tonight and see how it is.
