OAUSA Newby Greetings

Post by MagicMtnDan » Tue Dec 08, 2009 12:00 am

Glad I found this site (thanks to Larry at Dirty Parts).

I've got a 2010 F-150 Raptor SVT. It replaced my pristine M-B G500 (great offroad but very spendy) which I sold.

We love Anza-Borrego and go there as often as we can. Had the Raptor out there Thanksgiving weekend running the Arroyo Salado wash down into Ocotillo Wells. It was great. A bit wider than the G500 (and Jeeps) but it gets it done.

Hope to meet you and see you on the trails and in the desert.

Here's a pic of the Raptor at the A-B Desert State Park campground (rainy and cold)...

Welcome to the forum, Dan. You're in good company, as many of us here often travel out into Anza-Borrego this time of year. See you on the trails.

Hey Dan:

Welcome. The first guy with a Raptor has to tell us all about it. Looks nice.

OK, thanks for asking...

I took the Raptor back to its home turf of Anza-Borrego desert and Ocotillow Wells State Vehicular Recreation Area (SVRA) and got it dirty Thanksgiving weekend.

For a stock vehicle this truck is insanely good! It's off the hook! In the Raptor 40 MPH is the new 20. 50 MPH is the new 30. (What you can do in other trucks you can do at least 20 MPH faster - and more if you want to push it).

You can go so fast that you have to watch for rocks, obstacles and other vehicles and make sure you scrub off enough speed that you don't slide into a wall or a tree.

The 5.4 Triton engine has plenty of power and it's enough to enable you to get into trouble if you're not careful. Good thing the folks at Ford gave the Raptor good brakes.

This is a great truck - the suspension is amazing and it will allow you to go very fast. Faster than any other stock truck that I am aware of.

I have alwayse really liked the stock suspension of the 05 and newer F-150s. Ford has it dialed in. I wish you could make the new Tundra ride like an F-150.

Welcome to the forum sir. I have been following the Raptor and its development. It is the first Ford truck I have been interested in since the original "Lightenings" were developed. I am truly envious of you. I look forward to seeing it in action in AB. :D
